The PTI’s political committee last night considered the controversy created by Bushra Bibi in view of the Islamabad High Court’s decision to cancel the November 24 protest march.
According to some PTI leaders involved in last night’s talks, the majority of the committee members were in favor of canceling the November 24 protest march in light of the court’s verdict, arguing that talks with the government It should be allowed to proceed.
PTI’s political committee decided that this option (of ending the protest call and going ahead with talks) should be presented to Imran Khan to take a decision on it. After the recommendation of the political committee, a delegation of PTI leaders went to Adiala Jail to meet Imran Khan, but they could not meet him.
Later Chief Minister KP Ali Amin Gandapur called a meeting of party leaders in Peshawar to discuss the issue of protest march.
When contacted, Barrister Saif, advisor to PTI leader and Ali Amin Gandapur, said that although he is not a member of the political committee, there are discussions in the party to challenge the court’s decision.
On the serious controversy arising from Bushra Bibi’s video statement about Saudi Arabia, party sources say that most of the members of the political committee were not happy and spoke against it, but they openly accepted Bushra Bibi’s statement. Unable to decide whether to reject it, some leaders suggested that the PTI should distance itself from Bushra Bibi’s statement and let the woman defend herself.
Meanwhile, the military establishment has clarified that it has nothing to do with behind-the-scenes contacts between the PTI and the government, a source close to the establishment told The News on Friday, citing claims by some. Or categorically denied the perceived impression that these behind-the-scenes contacts were the result of any action by the security establishment or that there was any contact between the establishment and the PTI.
The source added that our position is clear that the army will not talk to any political party, it is the job of the political parties to talk to each other. He further said that Pakistan Army will not have any talks with any political leader or political party.
Referring to the press conference of ISPR DG Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif in May this year, the source said that the stated position of the institution remains unchanged. He was asked about the possibility of a deal with PTI and Imran Khan. He had said that the army has no political role.
He made it clear that the army is apolitical and its relationship with every government is according to the constitution and law, all political parties are respectable to us but if a political group attacks its own army, someone with it. will not negotiate, the only way for such an anarchist group is to apologize to the nation, give up the politics of hatred and promise constructive politics.
DG ISPR had emphasized that in any case, the dialogue should be between political parties, it is not appropriate for the army to get involved
The News, quoting a senior defense source, also reported on November 2 that the army’s policy, as announced earlier, remains unchanged and if Imran Khan and the PTI get any relief or concession. If they want to do it, the only way forward for them is to talk to political parties including government representatives, not the army or its chief.
